Winter
2004
We will be taking a break as from the 10 December
so this is an ideal time to wish all our Members & Patrons a merry
Christmas time and a wonderful New year.
We look back to a very constructive and enjoyable
year. We welcome Don.Antonio & Don Pedro who have added their super first
class taxi service so that the Society can now include a VIP extra for
private tours to Avila, Segovia, El Escorial, Chinchon & Toledo.
Once again both Hemingway & Bloody Madrid topped
the Theme Tours in 2004.Also our Sunday Jaunt (11Am start) through Old
madrid, flea market included proved a great hit as Madrid on a Sunday
morning is amazing with stalls & vendors selling a whole host of things.
Segovia was the number one site for day excursions this year. With the new
walk-ways and restoration work finished it really is a delightful place to
go with us.
In the New year we shall have the web pages
updated and will include some exciting new tours including visits to
Wellington's battlefields (chance to sample local cuisine & wine!).
We must lament the passing of one of our Patrons,
Dr. David Chandler, lecturer at Sandhurst and one of the most famous
Napoleonic historians of the 20th century. A Tribute from our Chairman
will be published soon. Our thoughts go to his dear wife Gill. |
