San Isidro died in 1172, became the patron saint of the Spanish capital in the 17th century and is
celebrated each year on 15 May.
Our guided tour includes a visit to his house, the well where he
preformed a miracle (thereby saving his small son's life) and on to the church where his silver lined
coffin rests at the high-alter. A short walk away is the Plaza Mayor where we get to descend to the
cellars where the unfortunate heretics were herded to await the burnings above! Lots of anecdotes
on the Inquisition before we retire to a local tavern for lunch.
